Physiology is a fundamental branch of the basic medical sciences that seeks to explain the very essence and processes of life. It provides a comprehensive framework for understanding how living organisms function by exploring normal biological activities, underlying mechanisms, and the complex interactions that occur within and between different organ systems. By studying physiology, students gain insight into how the human body maintains balance, responds to internal and external changes, and sustains life. This knowledge forms the foundation for both basic biological understanding and its application in clinical and healthcare settings.
The Department of Physiology at Ghatal Rabindra Satabarsiki Mahavidyalaya, established in 2004, has been dedicated to imparting quality education at the undergraduate level. The department offers well-structured academic programs designed to build a strong conceptual foundation in both basic and applied physiology. The curriculum is thoughtfully developed and regularly updated, keeping in view the growing relevance of physiological knowledge in modern medical and clinical practices. Emphasis is placed not only on theoretical learning but also on practical understanding, enabling students to relate physiological concepts to real-life health and disease conditions. In addition to teaching, the faculty members of the department actively engage in various research activities aimed at advancing scientific knowledge and enriching the academic environment. These research initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing students’ learning experiences by exposing them to current developments and encouraging analytical and critical thinking.
